KarenMy Peace(full) Little Life… is the website of one of my fellow ambassadors from  Life Vest Inside. Karen Davenport is a blogger like me. She wrote a wonderful blog about the universal language. I liked it so much, that I asked her to share it with Happy Minds.

imagesP66XTZUMWith nothing but a look or a touch, have you ever felt love, warmth or care from another person?
This is what I like to think of as the Universal Language at work. The dialect? Kindness. I’ve noticed that if you genuinely care for someone, love and concern can be expressed through the simplest of actions.

A great friend of mine recently visited her ailing grandmother. She was saddened to find that after much time away, she wasn’t able to speak in her family’s dialect and that lag in communication placed a barrier between them.

As I sympathized for my friend and her aching heart, I reminded her that to her grandmother, her presence was assuredly much more valuable than any conversation they could have had.

Shhhhhh-e1353993240838In fact, the Dalai Lama has said “Silence is sometimes the best answer.”Take a moment and think about that! In a world that is constantly buzzing with activity, where technology demands that we communicate 24/7, SILENCE can be the key to a peaceful moment of connection.

just_close_your_eyes_wallpaper__yvt2I sometimes like to close my eyes and imagine the moments in my life when my heart has been at its happiest. Each time an image pops into my head, I realize that there are no words– there is a look, there is a touch or there is a feeling… but each time, that memory is accompanied by silence–  a silence that conveyed the love and kindness that made this memory so special.

As you go about your day, I hope you’ll join me in reminding yourself of the power of the smallest, most sincere actions. Each of us has the power to share that look, touch or feeling that lingers in someone’s memory. Let’s see how many hearts we can touch with our quiet kindness!
